Tasting Panel Review
In a centuryold mountain vineyard 1,750 feet in elevation, rocky soils and cold winds from the Andes add to the concentration of flavor and dense mouthfeel of this well-endowed red. Violets and dark chocolate are a romantic gift for the nose and palate. Blackberry and anise coat sturdy tannins with a chalky undertone, and sweet tobacco meets a lengthy graphite-and-blackberry finish to create textural pleasure.
James Suckling Review
Stewed blackcurrant, blackberry leaf, chocolate orange, vanilla and mint tea on the nose. It's medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and a smooth, rich yet balanced palate. Firm at the end. Drink now.
Wine Tasting Notes
Scarlet Vine fruit commands first-class treatment in the winery, so we lavish it with all it deserves: hand-picked, five-plus days on the skins before fermentation and ten days after for rich texture and extraction, followed by ten months perfecting in French oak barrels. The wine is powerful and volup-tuous with classic flavors of black cherry and raspberry, subtle hints of mint, herbs and vanilla oak. The finish is long and alluring.
