Wine Advocate Review Rated 94 The 2005 Shiraz (65%) Mataro (35%) "Hubris" was aged in French and American oak puncheons, 50% new. It delivers aromas of spice box, clove, damp earth, pencil lead, black cherry, and blueberry. This is followed by a ripe, layered, structured wine with superb length. It merits 6-8 years of further cellaring and will drink well through 2025.
Wine Tasting Notes Three classic varieties have come together in this wine. The combination has produced a full bodied yet soft wine with a complex structure of the fruit oak and gentle tannins. Each variety adds its individual talents with nuances of chocolate, raspberry, beef stockpot and a berry fruit sweetness. The finish is dry and the flavors linger on the palate with subtle oak and tannin adding to the fruit characters creating a full and comprehensive wine that will drink well now but also benefit from cellaring.
