Wine Advocate Review Rated 93 The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with enticing scents of raspberry jam, sweet herbs and spices. There is a centeredness and a poise to the 2009 that give the wine its sense of harmony and total balance. Sweet, floral notes reappear on the engaging finish. As good as this is today, it will only be better in another 2-3 years. This is another fabulous effort from Chimney Rock. The blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 90 Marked by hefty tannins, this Cabernet is a little to astringent to drink now. With blackberry, currant and mineral flavors, it should develop for a while, but it could go downhill quickly, so it's a gamble.
Wine Tasting Notes Deep purple hue with a brightness in its fruit character which is seductive. Lush aromas of cherry cola, cassis and a hint of cinnamon permeate the aromatics. This wine is elegant and round as one should expect from Stags Leap District fruit. It also has a brightness in acidity which gives the finish of this wine both liveliness and length.
